SHIBAURA MACHINE CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo／Shigetomo Sakamoto, President) announces that it has decided to close its Thai manufacturing subsidiary (SHIBAURA MACHINE MANUFACTURING (THAILAND) CO., LTD.) with a view to optimizing its global production structure.
In 2012, we established a local manufacturing subsidiary in Thailand and have since built up a supply system for small injection molding machines and other products in the Southeast Asian market.
However, the business environment in the Southeast Asian market has undergone significant changes in recent years, including the restructuring of supply chains.
In response to these changes, and with a view to achieving further cost reductions, strengthening our competitiveness and optimizing our global production structure,
we will close our local manufacturing subsidiary in Thailand and consolidate production at our manufacturing base in China.
Our company maintains a global production network comprising manufacturing bases for injection molding machines in Japan, China, India and Germany.
Even following the closure of our local manufacturing subsidiary in Thailand, we will continue to supply the Southeast Asian market from these existing bases,
and there will be no changes to our sales and service arrangements.
